What is the Gospel?
The word “Gospel” simply means “Good News.” And the message at the heart of Christianity is just that—good news for a broken world.
We believe that God created the world and made people in His image to know Him, enjoy Him, and reflect His goodness.
📖 “So God created mankind in his own image…” (Genesis 1:27)
📖 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy…” (Psalm 16:11)
But humanity turned away from God, choosing to go our own way. The Bible calls this sin, and it separates us from the life we were made for.
📖 “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
📖 “Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God…” (Isaiah 59:2)
We see the results of that brokenness all around us—and within us.
📖 “The wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23a)
But God didn’t leave us in our brokenness. In love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world.
📖 “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
📖 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” (John 1:14)
Jesus lived a perfect life we could never live, died on the cross to take the penalty for our sin, and rose from the dead to defeat sin and death once and for all.
📖 “He committed no sin…” (1 Peter 2:22)
📖 “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures… he was buried… he was raised on the third day.” (1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
📖 “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:54)
Because of Jesus, forgiveness is possible. New life is possible. A restored relationship with God is possible—not by working for it, but by trusting in what Jesus has already done.
📖 “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works…” (Ephesians 2:8–9)
This is the Gospel:
Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again—so that anyone who turns to Him in faith can be forgiven, made new, and given eternal life.
📖 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
📖 “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
📖 “To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)

福音は何ですか
「福音」とは、「良い知らせ」という意味です。そして、キリスト教の中心にあるメッセージは、まさにこの良い知らせです――壊れてしまったこの世界に対する、神からの希望のメッセージです。
神はこの世界を創造し、人間を神ご自身のかたちに造られました。神を知り、喜び、神の善さを映し出すためです。
📖 「神はご自身のかたちに人を創造された。」（創世記 1:27）
📖 「あなたは命の道を私に知らせてくださいます。あなたの御前には喜びが満ち、…」（詩篇 16:11）
しかし、人間は神から離れ、自分勝手な道を選びました。聖書はこれを「罪」と呼び、この罪のゆえに私たちは神との関係から引き離され、本来あるべき命からも遠ざかってしまいました。
📖 「すべての人は罪を犯して、神の栄光を受けられなくなっています。」（ローマ 3:23）
📖 「あなたがたの咎が、あなたがたとあなたがたの神との仕切りとなり、…」（イザヤ 59:2）
この壊れた世界の現実は、私たちの外にも内にも見えます。
📖 「罪の報酬は死です…」（ローマ 6:23a）
しかし、神はそのまま私たちを見捨てられませんでした。私たちを愛し、御子イエス・キリストをこの世界に送ってくださいました。
📖 「私たちがまだ罪人であったとき、キリストが私たちのために死んでくださったことにより、神は私たちに対するご自身の愛を明らかにしておられます。」（ローマ 5:8）
📖 「ことばは人となって、私たちの間に住まわれた。」（ヨハネ 1:14）
イエスは私たちの代わりに、罪のない完璧な人生を送り、十字架で私たちの罪の罰を受け、そして死に打ち勝って復活されました。
📖 「この方は罪を犯したことがなく…」（1ペテロ 2:22）
📖 「キリストは、私たちの罪のために死なれたこと、葬られたこと、三日目によみがえられたこと…」（1コリント 15:3–4）
📖 「死は勝利に飲み込まれた。」（1コリント 15:54）
イエス・キリストによって、赦しが可能になりました。新しい人生が与えられます。努力や功績ではなく、イエスが成し遂げてくださったことを信じることで、神との関係が回復されるのです。
📖 「あなたがたは、恵みにより、信仰によって救われたのです。それは自分自身から出たことではなく、神の賜物です。行いによるのではありません…」（エペソ 2:8–9）
これが福音です：
イエス・キリストは、私たちの罪のために死に、葬られ、三日目によみがえられました。イエスに信頼する者は誰でも、罪を赦され、新しくされ、永遠のいのちを受け取ることができるのです。
📖 「だれでもキリストのうちにあるなら、その人は新しく造られた者です。」（2コリント 5:17）
📖 「主の御名を呼び求める者はみな、救われる。」（ローマ 10:13）
📖 「この方を受け入れた人々、すなわちその名を信じた人々には、神の子どもとされる特権をお与えになった。」（ヨハネ 1:12）
教会にずっと通っている方も、これから信仰について考え始めたばかりの方も、この良い知らせはすべての人のためのものです。
